Developers Frangar and Rinnegatamante have been releasing a constant stream of Android game ports to the PS Vita, most recently Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV a few days ago.

Final Fantasy IV for PS Vita gets an update

The unofficial PS Vita ports, based on the Android remakes of the games, have been received with praise by the Vita scene.

The FFIV port just got an update yesterday, bumping it up to version 1.1. This version fixes game crashing issues (in particular incompatibilities with some plugins), improves rendering, and added some East Asian language support.

From the changelog:

  • Fixed an issue causing the game to crash with plugins hooking sceDisplaySetFrameBuf.
  • Set Bilinear Filtering to Disabled by default cause it causes some minor artifacting with textures.
  • Fixed an issue causing text input keyboard to partially glitch when a PostFX effect was being used.
  • Fixed the Debug Menu option in the Configurator app. Now it can be correctly enabled.
  • Fixed higher resolutions (720p,/1080i) support. Now works as intended.
  • Added support for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean languages.

Frangar teases Final Fantasy V PS Vita port incoming

Not happy to stop there, Frangar has recently taken to twitter to let us know he’s now working on Final Fantasy 5, (probably once again using the Android version as a base, and TheFloW‘s ARM Loader mechanism).

Looks like the sky’s the limit on our console, with these guys 🙂

Important:

  • You will need a hacked PS Vita to run unofficial games.
  • Also please note once more that you will need a legit copy of the original Android games in order to play those. The files from the original game are required for the setup! (See Setup details in the links above.)
