FTPS5: PS5 FTP Server v1.1 by Sistr0, adds persistence

PlayStation scene developer Sistr0 has updated FTPS5 (initially by Zecoxao) to make it persistent. With this new update 1.1, you can now navigate away from the PS5 browser and still have the FTP server running!

What’s FTPS5

FTPS5 is an FTP Server for your hacked PS5. It allows you to browse, copy, and modify the content of your PS5’s hard drive from the comfort of your own PC.

Until now, one of the minor problems of the FTP server is that the PS5 had to stay on the screen of the Webkit exploit, for the FTP server to run. Leaving the Web browser would close the entire process, including the FTP Server.

While not extremely inconvenient, it was however bugging multiple people, so Sistr0 added a little bit of fork so that closing Webkit won’t kill the FTP process. Meaning you can now navigate way from the Web browser after loading the FTP Server 🙂

Important: Persistent here means the FTP server runs even if you close the Web Browser. It does not mean the FTP Server (or the exploit) will survive a reboot. You’ll have to run the exploit again after a reboot!

Sistr0 notes however that you will get a kernel panic when shutting down the PS5, which doesn’t happen with the non-persistent version of the FTP server. Pick your poison?

As a reminder, you will need a hacked PS5 to run the exploit. We have a few hints here on where to buy one.
