Just when you think he’ll run out of games to port, Rinnegatamante drops another bomb. This time with a favorite of mine, Thimbleweed Park. This is yet another Android port straight to Vita using TheFlow’s wrapper (a mechanism that allows to un Android apps natively on the PS Vita, without emulation, allowing for impressive performance). Thanks to this system, we’ve seen other great releases recently including The Conduit, Mass Effect Infiltrator, Dead Space, FahrenheitCrazy Taxi, Rockstar’s Bully and GTA San Andreas, the Anomaly Series, as well as Final Fantasy ports by Rinnegatamante and Frangar.

Just a few months ago, Rinne had shared that we had crossed the line of 30 Android games ported to PS Vita, we are now above 40.

What’s Thimbleweed Park for PS Vita

“FBI agents Angela Ray and Alberto Reyes arrive at the town of Thimbleweed Park to investigate a murder…”

Thimbleweed Park operates on the same principles of early graphic adventures games, in that players navigate various scenes from a third person perspective, using various “verb commands” to perform actions, such as “use”, “pick up”, and “talk to”. Verb commands can be used to perform actions such as allowing a character to pick up an object into their inventory, to converse with another character, or to use an object on another item.

Thimbleweed park is an adventure game by Ron Gilbert, of Monkey Island fame.

This PS Vita port requires the original game’s files. From the readme:

This is a wrapper/port of Thimbleweed Park for the PS Vita.

The port works by loading the official Android ARMv7 executable in memory, resolving its imports with native functions and patching it in order to properly run. By doing so, it’s basically as if we emulate a minimalist Android environment in which we run natively the executable as it is.

Download and Install Thimbleweed Park for PS Vita

Disclaimer: it goes without saying, but you will need a hacked PS Vita in order to run this game.
