The Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator keeps getting improved by the day, and the team has tweeted that Yuzu now runs Sonic 3, within the Retroarch emulator (at a very slow Framerate).
Emulators already available on Nintendo Switch
So, in case you didn’t know, Retroarch, the meta-emulator, is already available on Nintendo Switch for those of us running PegaSwitch on 3.0.0. And it already supports SNES, NES, Jaguar, and Megadrive/Geneesis, among other consoles. The video below shows the emulator running SNES games:
It’s not all hands-off though: you have to run this through PegaSwitch, and, more importantly, compile the retroarch directly from source (The Retroarch github is here). Apparently, no compiled version of Retroarch for Switch is released at this point, because it needs to be compiled along with the roms one intends to play. Meaning distributing the compiled binary (those are .nro files on the Switch) would be illegal in most cases.
Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu runs homebrew
Independently of how easy it is to compile and run Retroarch for the Switch at the moment, the meta-emulator is the poster child of Nintendo Switch homebrew. As such, being able to run it within Yuzu is proof that the Yuzu emulator is making significant progress.
Yes, there is no direct value in running a Sega Genesis game within an emulator on an emulated Nintendo Switch. However it’s a great demonstration that the Nintendo Switch emulator is making awesome progress.

You can download Yuzu from the emulator’s official github here. You’ll have to compile it yourself at the moment. This emulator does not run Switch commercial games at this point.
