PS4 5.01/5.05: Project Mira 1.00 released (devs only)

The Open Orbis team has released the first compiled binary of Project Mira, a Custom Firmware for the PS4. Project Mira is currently compatible with Firmware 5.01 and 5.05. But this will not be useful to end users yet, as the upcoming PS4 Jailbreak for firmware 5.05 has not been released yet.

The accompanying tools, such as newlib, which would be useful for building homebrew, are currently marked as “in development” and maybe “not ready to use” in the official readme.

The 3 official readme files from the project have been updated, and tout a few upcoming features of project Mira, including a way to receive payload without going through webkit, a Linux loader, as well as the “OpenOrbis Store”, a “community driven application store” that will let people download plugins and homebrew.

Without any way to test for now, it is still difficult to properly imagine the possibilities that Project Mira will bring to our consoles. At the very least though, it feels like it could become the mother of all payloads, the only one you need to load after the exploit in order to do cool stuff with your console.

You can download the release at the source below. Instructions on how to install and tun can be found in the readme (either in the source zip of the release,or directly on the github repo). Again, this is currently useful only if you have access to a PS4 5.05 kernel exploit.
