While the PlayStation Vita’s homebrew scene is still going strong, activity in the 3DS one isn’t as high but we’re still seeing some noteworthy releases from time to time. In this article, we’ll be looking at an English translation patch for Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists (PSVita) and 3DSync.

PSVita Release: Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists English Translation Patch

Last week, froid_san released an English translation patch for Catherine: Full Body on the PSVita to a good deal of fanfare with the patch receiving hundreds of upvotes on Reddit [1,2].

Thanks to more excellent work by the PSVita community, you can now play Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists in English!

Now, the PSVita has received yet another English translation patch from its community and this time, it’s for Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists. This game is a spin-off title in the popular Atelier series and it was originally released in Japan in January of last year. A few months later, an English version was released but unfortunately, the PSVita was left it out since it was only released on the PS4, Switch and PC.

To remedy this and allow non-Japanese Atelier fans to play the game, Reddit user ‘Accelerator11‘ created an English patch which was released yesterday. Similar to other English translation patches, it works through rePatch and some text may look a little odd due to missing line breaks but the game should be playable without any major issues.

You may grab the translation patch from its Reddit thread & make sure you update the game to version 1.06 before applying it.

3DS Release: 3DSync, a utility letting you upload Checkpoint saves to Dropbox

Despite cloud saving being a pretty common feature nowadays and even the PSVita supporting it with PS Plus, Nintendo decided to leave the 3DS out of the party and as a result, you need to backup Checkpoint saves manually by reading them from the SDCard.

Now, things on this front have started to change thanks to Kyraminol’s 3DSync despite the console almost 9 years old.

As its name may suggest, 3DSync is a homebrew utility letting you upload Checkpoint save games to Dropbox although it’s in early stages at this point. Using it is pretty simple as it only requires you to:

  • Install the CIA or a run a 3DSX fil
  • Use this configurator website to generate settings in order to use the Dropbox API
    • This generates a ‘3DSync.ini’ file which you should put in /3ds/3DSync/3DSync.ini on your SDCard
  • Backup save games with Checkpoint
  • Open 3DSync and have your saves uploaded to the cloud!

Its developer currently plans to add support for more platforms including more cloud services, a local PC client and the ability to transfer saves wirelessly between different 3DS consoles.

You may read more about 3DSync and find its download links from its GBATemp thread.

Conclusion

On a concluding note, the Switch received an update to its melonDS port with rewritten 2D GPU code resulting in better performance, support for button input in the GUI and much more. Staying on the topic, Nintendo has announced has announced a Coral (pink) Switch Lite for the Japanese market which will launch on March 20th despite the coronavirus taking its toll on Switch production.
