This week has been pretty generous to the Nintendo Switch with a good deal of news both in the homebrew/hacking front and the emulation front. In this article, we’re going to look at more Switch-related releases with the release of Atmosphère 0.12.0 together with SkyNX 1.0!
Atmosphere 0.12.0 released with re-implemented sysmodules, improvements to dmnt’s Cheat VM and more!
In just a span of 11 days, the Atmosphere CFW for the Nintendo Switch received 3 updates with the last one being version 0.12.0. For those who are out of the loop, Atmosphere is a highly popular CFW for hackable Nintendo Switch consoles which include fusee-gelee vulnerable units and ipatched units on FW 4.1.0 but this shall soon extend to all Switch units currently on the market with Team Xecuter’s upcoming SX Lite and SX Core hacking solutions.

As usual, SciresM wishes us a Happy June 15th with the release of Atmosphere 0.12.0 which contains quite a few behind-the-scenes updates! (Tweet)
Other than features like emuMMC and excellent custom sysmodule (plugin) support, Atmosphere also has pretty good support by its developers and now, Atmosphere 0.12.0 has been released with the following updates:
- Two sysmodules, namely pgl (Program Launcher) and jpegdec were re-implemented
- The re-implemented pgl module allows sysmodules and homebrew to subscribe for process event notifications
- The re-implemented ‘jpegdec’ sysmodule comes with two sessions instead of one thus allowing homebrew to use it for software JPEG decoding as well
- Both sysmodules make use of less memory than Nintendo’s implementations – more technical details can be viewed in the change log linked below
- The configuration for exosphere was moved to “SD:/exosphere.ini”
- Dmnt’s Cheat VM now supports 3 new opcodes (commands) thus allowing for ‘dynamic’ cheats
- This could help with cheats that give players items by allowing them to learn how many items a player has
- A reworking of Atmosphere’s bis protection policy for the PRODINFO partition.
- A bug was fixed that made the console crash when connected to WiFi on FW 3.0.0 to 4.1.0
- Other bugs including one that could cause boots to occasionally fail when doing physical ASLR of the kernel

DevL0rd releases SkyNX 1.0 promising 60FPS PC game streaming from PC, support for up to 4 players simultaneously, basic touch input, right click support and more!
As we all know, installing a CFW without then proceeding to install homebrew is pretty useless but thankfully, the Switch has a good arsenal of useful homebrew that’s always growing. This time around, we have the 1.0 release of SkyNX, a homebrew for the Nintendo Switch that allows you to stream your PC’s screen to the console.

SkyNX allows you to stream PC games to your Switch with a good amount of features without having to boot into Android!
Despite such functionality not being new as both In-Home-Switching (left in an experimental state) and Moonlight on Android offer PC streaming to the Switch, SkyNX comes with a pretty attractive list of features such as:
- First and for most, it allows for 60FPS PC game streaming over a LAN with audio within Horizon OS
- This saves you the hassle of rebooting into Android where pretty good streaming applications exist
- Support for multiplayer as it can handle up to 4 JoyCon pairs simultaneously
- This allows 4 players to play at once
- The ability to provide basic touch input with support for both right clicking and scrolling
- The ability to disable audio and swap the A/B and X/Y buttons
According to instructions on its GBATemp Release Post, using SkyNX is pretty easy as it simply has you installing a Forwarder application on your Switch and running the SkyNX Streamer on your PC. Its developer DevL0rd suggests setting your PC’s screen resolution to 1280×720 (Switch’s screen resolution) for the best results.
You may grab SkyNX and its PC streamer application from its GitHub release page by following this link.
Conclusion
In other scenes, NO$GBA 3.01 has been released mostly with stuff relating to 3DS emulation. Staying on the subject of 3DS emulation, Neobrain has released an Alpha version of his Mikage 3DS emulator for Android albeit it’s only available to Patreon supporters despite performance not being up to scratch for playing any commercial games just yet. On the PlayStation Vita front, Rinnegatamante has also been able to fix HW fog on the Vita’s DaedalusX64 port & a bounty has been posted for porting LZDoom/GZDoom to the PSVita which would bring very good DOOM mod support if it’s indeed completed.
