The organizers behind the KyuHEN PS Vita homebrew competition have decided to extend the deadline by 10 days. This will give people additional time to complete their projects if needed (and, I believe, people who have already submitted a homebrew can still update it if needed).
What is Vita KyuHEN ?
The KyuHEN contest is a PS Vita Homebrew competition with now $1799 in cash prizes, at the time of this writing. The money was donated by various sponsors, websites or individuals. (disclaimer: Wololo.net is a sponsor of this event but we are not involved in the vote).
Some very cool homebrews have been submitted to the contest already. Some of my personal favorites include Vita ports for Abuse, Command & Conquer, and the original X-Com, as well as tools such as hbRedirect or Vita Recorder.
Strategically speaking: there doesn’t seem to be any entry yet for the “Game 2” category: an original game made with your own engine (per comparison to using Unity and the like). The winner of that category gets the biggest cash prize: 40% of the total. This currently represents more than $700. If I were to submit a last minute entry to the contest, this is personally where I would focus my efforts. Just saying
For details on the rules, judging, prizes, and how to submit your own homebrew game or tool, please head over the official site of the contest.
